Getting Rid of Peeling Skin on the Fingertips

Getting Rid of Peeling Skin on the FingertipsThe skin on the fingertips is subject to a lot of abuse, which can lead to the skin beginning to peel. Sunburn, psoriasis, eczema, frigid temperatures, and skin infections can also cause peeling fingertips, as well as the use of chemicals, frequent hand washing, and some medical conditions.

Peeling fingertips may be dry, itchy, sensitive, and red. If you suffer from peeling fingertips, the following remedies will help clear up the problem, and prevent it in the future.

Warm Water Soaks
Soaking your fingertips in warm water will help the dry skin come off. You can also add a few drops of olive oil or a teaspoon of honey to provide added moisture. After soaking, or washing hands, make sure to pat the skin dry to avoid drying out the skin.

Moisturize
If you wash your hands frequently, you need to make sure that you are replacing the moisture that is lost by using harsh soaps and cleansers. All natural lotions or petroleum jelly should be used after every hand washing.

Cucumber Slices
Rub slices of cucumber on affected areas to help with irritation, and provide increased moisture. The anti-inflammatory actions of cucumber will also help prevent future outbreaks.

Olive Oil
Massage hands with olive oil, or add a few drops to your hands when washing. This will increase moisture, and provide nutrients to the skin.

Oatmeal Scrub or Soak
You can soak whole oats in warm water to use as a scrub to help get rid of the flaky skin. You can also use ground oats in warm water as a soak to add more moisture to the skin, and relieve itching.

Stay Hydrated
You should drink plenty of water to ensure that your body is properly hydrated. Drinking plenty of fluids and water helps prevent skin dryness, and gets rid of any toxins that may be in the body.

Milk
Milk contains many nutrients that are good for the body and skin. You can soak hands in warm milk mixed with honey, or you can drink the mixture. Either way will provide nourishment to the skin.

Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe Vera gel hydrates the skin, and helps to reduce any inflammation that may be present. Apply to hands several times per day to keep skin healthy.

Bananas
Mash one banana with sour cream and apply to fingertips to help combat dry, flaky skin.
