Home Remedies for a Painful Ear Ache
It seems to happen to children more than adults but when it does happen, it affects everyone the same way. An ear ache can make a baby cry and send an adult to bed to try to get through it. The reasons may vary but it happens usually without notice.
You could experience a painful ear ache as a result of a cold or virus, a sinus infection or even a toothache. Your head will feel like it is filled with fluids and you will probably feel pain in your ears deep inside.
You’ll probably keep trying different things to find out why your baby is crying until you make the trip to the pediatrician’s office and he tells you your little one has an ear infection. There are ways to send this painful situation away for children and adults.
One of the simplest and easiest ways to begin to ease your ear pain is to apply a warm compress. The swelling will begin to come down and the heat will start to eliminate the pain.
Adults can try to handle the pain by taking the appropriate dosage of aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen. You might have to resort to this so you can at least sleep through the night.
Olive oil that has been warmed up is another home remedy that can start to help ease the pain from your ear. Heat up a little olive oil and put it in a small bottle that has a dropper for a top. Have someone put a few drops in your ear and then keep your head tilted so the oil can do its thing.
Steaming up your bathroom and sitting in there for about a half hour could help to loosen things up and may help alleviate a painful ear ache. You can either run your shower until the room is filled with steam or if you have a clothes steamer turn that on in your bathroom.
Make sure that you don’t get tempted to put anything into your ear. Absolutely nothing sharp, try not to get any dirt in your ears, and even abstain from cotton swabs. If you can’t get any relief from these home remedies don’t suffer in silence. Call a physician who can administer the appropriate measures to begin healing your painful ear ache. Don’t wait until it gets worse.
